Crazyass Japanese Thing of the Day: Zookeepers and security guards at Tokyo’s Ueno Zoo conducted their annual escaped-Rhino drill this week.

In six minutes and 22 seconds, life can change forever. Imagine watching as your home washes away. Imagine the magnitude of trying to rebuild your life.

As people, we need to set aside whatever petty differences we have and help Japan. The Tohoku region—easily the hardest hit—is not rich. A lot of farmers live there. A lot of great people call it home. Can we please take a crappy situation and turn it into an opportunity to rock as a planet? Let’s help where we’re needed, back off where we’re not and show anyone watching that, when the shit hits the fan, we’re there for each other.

I used to live in Aomori-ken, and I never knew they did this shiz! It’s amazingly awesome, but I guess I should expect it from the people that bring the Nebuta festival every year.
